Santana y Becky G rinden tributo a la Comunidad
Latina de Estados Unidos con el videoclip oficial de “MI GRAN AMOR”
La leyenda global del rock, Carlos Santana y la superestrella global
Becky G presentaron hoy el video oficial de “Mi Gran Amor”, su poderosa
colaboración en la que plasmaron la resiliencia de la comunidad latina
en Estados Unidos. El videoclip está disponible en el canal de YouTube
de Santana.
El sencillo, lanzado a finales de mayo, unió a las estrellas en una
canción que refleja la vida de millones de inmigrantes latinos que
llegaron a Estados Unidos en busca del ansiado sueño americano. Escrito
por el 29 veces ganador del Latin GRAMMY®, Edgar Barrera, junto a
Spreadlof, CASTA, Carlos Santana, Daniel Rondón y Becky G, el sencillo
destaca por su potente narrativa, que resalta la resiliencia de los 68
millones de inmigrantes latinos que viven en el país, según cifras del
Pew Research Center.

Fiel a la historia que relata la canción, el videoclip retrata la vida
cotidiana de la comunidad latina. El video intercala escenas cotidianas
de la vida de la comunidad latina y muestra el impacto que tienen los
latinos en el tejido sociocultural y económicos del país.
El vídeo estuvo a cargo del equipo de la compañía cinematográfica STADE
New York: la dirección fue de Rodrigo Ramírez, Cam Robertson y Leonardo
Linkowski; y la producción, de Jasmine López Vieyra y Nazareno
Brancatto. La producción se grabó entre Los Ángeles y Las Vegas.
La producción abre con los rostros de latinos en Estados Unidos, un
reconocimiento a sus vidas e historias. Esos rostros son los encargados
de entregar a la comunidad su correo, de acompañarlos en sus historias
médicas, de recibirlos en sus tiendas y de servirles sus alimentos en
los restaurantes que visitan.
El vídeo también muestra a la próxima generación de profesionales
latinos a través de los rostros de estudiantes en uno de los días más
especiales no solo de sus vidas, sino también de sus padres: su
graduación. Precisamente en este entorno estudiantil Becky G hace acto
de presencia: el videoclip captura el discurso de la cantante ante 450
estudiantes de la UC Santa Cruz durante la celebración anual
Chicanx/Latinx Year-End Celebration.
Este rol de oradora en la UC Santa Cruz captura la esencia del papel de
Becky G en “Mi Gran Amor”. La cantante se convierte en la gran narradora
de las historias que conforman este tema y reflejan la realidad de
millones de latinos en Estados Unidos, dándole voz a la mujer migrante,
pilar de los hogares dentro y fuera del país.
Tanto en el sencillo como en su videoclip, Becky G y Santana resaltan la
resiliencia del inmigrante latino y el papel fundamental de la comunidad
hispana en el tejido cultural del país: “las estrellas de su bandera las
cosimos nosotros”.
La producción de Edgar Barrera y Carlos Santana brilla a lo largo del
tema, con la inconfundible guitarra del legendario artista como espina
dorsal que conecta toda la historia. El tema, que se perfila como un
himno de pop/rock, convoca los sonidos de Latinoamérica entera en 3
minutos 38 segundos e incorpora a la banda de Santana, que aporta el
sabor latino a través de timbales, congas, güiro y maracas, lo que le
otorga vitalidad y tropicalidad al género.
Este es el tercer sencillo que Santana lanza de esta nueva era musical y
da continuidad a las colaboraciones con estrellas mexicanas, como Grupo
Frontera en “Me Retiro” y Carín León en “Velas”, ambos temas, también
liderados por Edgar Barrera en la composición y la producción.

Rock legend Carlos Santana and global superstar Becky G unveiled today
the official video for “Mi Gran Amor,” their powerful collaboration
capturing the resilience of the Latino community in the United States.
The video is available on Santana’s YouTube channel.
Released in late May, the single brought the two stars together in a
song that reflects the lives of millions of Latino immigrants who came
to the United States in pursuit of the American dream. Written by
29-time Latin GRAMMY® winner Edgar Barrera, alongside Spreadlof, CASTA,
Daniel Rondón, Carlos Santana and Becky G, the single stands out for its
powerful narrative, which highlights the resilience of the more than 68
million Latinos living in the United States, according to the Pew
Research Center.
True to the story the song tells, the video portrays the everyday lives
of the Latino community. The video weaves in everyday scenes that
highlight the impact Latinos have on the country’s socioeconomic and
cultural fabric.
The video was developed by the STADE New York film company team, under
the direction of Rodrigo Ramírez, Cam Robertson, and Leonardo Linkowski,
with Jasmine López Vieyra and Nazareno Brancatto handling the
production. The visuals were filmed between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
The video opens on the faces of Latinos across the United States, a
tribute to their lives and stories. Those are the faces behind
delivering the community’s mail, accompanying them through their medical
appointments, welcoming them into stores and serving them at the
restaurants they visit.
The video also spotlights the next generation of Latino professionals
through the faces of students on one of the most special days of their
lives — and their parents’ lives too: graduation day. It’s in this
academic setting that Becky G makes her appearance: the video captures
her keynote speech to 450 students at UC Santa Cruz during the annual
Chicanx/Latinx Year-End Celebration.
This turn as a speaker at UC Santa Cruz captures the essence of Becky
G’s role in “Mi Gran Amor”. The singer becomes the storyteller behind
the narratives that shape the song and reflect the reality of millions
of Latinos in the United States, giving voice to the immigrant woman —
the backbone of households both in the United States and beyond.
In both the single and its music video, Santana and Becky G highlight
the resilience of the Latino immigrant and the fundamental role of the
Hispanic community in the country’s cultural fabric: “las estrellas de
su bandera las cosimos nosotros” (“we were the ones who sewed the stars
on their flag”).
The Edgar Barrera and Carlos Santana production shines throughout, with
the legendary guitarist’s unmistakable playing serving as the backbone
that ties the whole story together. The track, shaping up to be a
pop/rock anthem, summons the sounds of all of Latin America in 3 minutes
and 38 seconds, incorporating the Santana Band, who bring Latin flavor
through timbales, congas, güiro, and maracas, which give the track its
vitality and tropical flair.
This is the third single Santana has released in this new musical
chapter, continuing a series of collaborations with Mexican stars —
including Grupo Frontera on “Me Retiro” and Carín León on “Velas” — both
